Sierra Larkspur (Delphinium glaucum)


Other common names include Tall Larkspur or Mountain Larkspur, among others. This fast growing larkspur produces tall spikes of deep purple flowers. Prefers full to partial shade and moist soil that is well drained. Found in moist meadows, bogs, stream banks and open woods at high elevations. Note: Poisonous to Cattle. Sow in fall for cold stratification, cover thinly, and be sure to keep seedlings out of direct sun.
