Cardwell's Penstemon (Penstemon cardwellii)

Also known as Cardwell’s Beardtongue. Lush pinkish purple blooms arise from a spreading mat of leathery, evergreen foliage. Found on rocky slopes and forest openings at mid elevations. Prefers full sun in moist, well drained soil, but can tolerate partial shade and drought. Sow in fall for cold stratification.
